In Africa the situation has been worse because of the poor infrastructure of the local Freight Forwarding industry and inadequate access to resources. The idea of African Links Logistics Network is to bring together indigenous African Freight Forwarders into a partnership in order for them to capitalize on their core competencies - local knowledge, to be better placed to compete An enlarged network in Africa will place AFRILINK member-partners in a good position to take advantage of the vast growth potential of the African market. In addition to the existing  services, it is anticipated that groupage consolidation businesses will increase substantially as the network expands across the continent. This will in the long run help to boost intra-African commerce, that has up till now been very small compared to other region
